A Little Bit About Me
Salaams, history -I was born and brought up in london with pakistani punjabi culture

personality-I would to think of myself as an easy going person who is straightforward. I like reading religious poems by rumi. I practise forms of meditation. I enjoy walks and bikerides in parks and nature. I like to study different religions and other cultures, the many islamic as well as others. I hold some sufi attitudes.

I have a particular fondness for japanese arts and culture. I like zen philosophy and gardens

favourite places: british museum, parks

Have read: translation of the quran, translation of chapter1 of bagavad gita, parts of the bible. Bits of george orwell among others.

Current tv: watch mainly alittle bit of indian/pakistani dramas with my mum. i do not like the cinema experience. i like to watch japanese dramas and films(english subtitled!)

Islamic talks: I like to listen to the sheikh teachers of tahrim (yemen) among others. i would also like to learn more about islamic art hopefully in the future.

Enjoy watching: traditional tajik, uyghur, and mongolian dance. Also indian classical(on internet), martial arts scenes, films occasionally.

In the slow process of learning: Urdu, hopefully more punjabi and arabic in the future. Am interested in punjabi mannerisms and expressions.

Hobbies: like to look at art and architecture from all over, including street design and furniture.

Enjoy: fruit, fresh juice, some meat. Not so much chilli.

I'm interested in the purpose of education and scientific philosophies in islamic expressions, the west and eastern traditions. I'm interested, for example in the education philosophy of krishnamurti.

Am very happy to know about some of the thoughts of seyyed hossein nasr, alan watts, dr waleed el ansary(perennial studies), khalil gibran poems, vedantan and buddhist monks and nuns...I share the views of dr waleed el ansary on scientism.
