A Little Bit About Me
As-salāmu `alaykum.
First and foremost, Faith is by far one of the most important parts of my life. Throughout the past few years, with the guidance of Allah *swt*, I have gained a new sense of sabr. The thought of Allah *swt* is constantly on my mind and it is because of that I am able to live a functional life. As many say, Islam is a lifestyle and I wholeheartedly believe that. Who I am and how I am is due to the practices of Islam.
Although I am a religious person, I was also raised in the West. I enjoy a majority of what others in the West like. I enjoys sports (basketball, soccer, and occasionally football), hanging out with friends, arts, music, movies, etc. One thing I won’t do is put myself in a position where I am uncomfortable with my surroundings.
Now as I am a “product” of the West, I do still value my cultural roots of the East. Being Bengali, I am very proud to be from such a cultural place. I love the food, the culture, the traditions of the country. I speak Bangla fluently and Spanish semi-fluent. Languages always intrigue me and I am constantly on the mission of learning something new. My newfound interests include Arabic and Russian. I know random but let’s just go with it.
When one meets me at first, I am a bit distant and quiet. I am the type of person who sits back and observes an environment before I step into the situation. My sense of reading someone has become very fine tuned because of this. The ability to read people definitely comes from my mother.
In all honesty, I am a simple girl who enjoys life and all that it has given me. Through the life lessons I have gotten, I attempt to better myself as a human being every day. I enjoy reading (believe it or not that activity still exists in this world of technology) , working out, cooking (I love trying new recipes as long as I have a guinea pig to feed them to), traveling, and just living life.
