I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area, in a moderate to liberal Muslim home. I am of Pakistani descent, but have only lived in America, and thefore consider myself an American Muslim. I place a value on faith, intelligence, independence, compassion, curiosity, having a spirit for life, a deep appreciation for the gifts that Allah (SWT) has given us, and living one's life in accordance to all of the above. I certainly know how to have a good time and have a great appreciation for a light-hearted sense of humor, but have become more aware of how essential spiritual balance and practice is.
