I am half Palestinian and half English which makes me a member of the ethic group they call 'other' on all the application forms.
Although I go back to visit my extended family as often as I can in Palestine, I have always lived in the UK and I definitely am British - though it sometimes requires a short trip to my dad's town to remind me!
I love the fact that I have two cultures two draw on - it really is the best of both worlds. I have always been the type who loves all cultures and always do my best to learn and understand how other people live.
I work in Public Relations for a big high street bank. It's a job i really enjoy - I do sometimes feel like the only Muslim in PR, but hopefully I'll be able to help the community somehow one day.
I own my own flat just outside London and really close to family.... but hoping I don't have to be alone for too long!
Luckily I am really close to all my family. Although my sister is married and now lives in Cyprus I still get to see a lot of her as she comes back quite often with her three kids...and I go there as often as I can.
Like most people I absolutely love travelling. Somehow I missed the gap year round the world on a shoe string; but I have tried to make up for it recently... Just back from Cuba and have also been to India, Thailand, Brazil, Cambodia, Vietnam, South Africa, parts of Europe and of course Palestine. I try to go back there once a year or so to catch up with the family as I realize its a connection that could be easily lost.
I love keeping busy, spending time with my family, my friends and with the community in general... outside work I also teach at a Supplementary school in West London and I am getting involved in mentoring young Muslim prisoners. I'm also starting to learn Spanish so that I can actually hold a conversation next time I am in South America!
I love just spending time with friends in a nice coffee shop or restaurant, watching a movie or a play, going to concerts, talks and lectures, playing badminton (I even win sometimes) and reading all sorts. I also love music. - listening and composing...the debut album is getting closer ;) And my cooking is improving (albeit from a low base). Gordon Ramsay needn't worry just yet.
In terms of religion, I definitely hold fast to all the basics. I pray, fast, don't drink etc but I am the first to admit I have a long way to go... I Just try to to my best to learn and develop and to be an example in as much as I can be.
If my friends were to describe me I think (or hope!) they would say I am creative, caring, generous, talkative, good with people, cultured, intelligent, sensitive, energetic, fun to be around, enthusiastic, intelligent, family minded and loyal. Those are just the positives obviously and I really think its true that different people bring out different side of me. But in the end its really for you to judge!
I don't really believe in lists, but like most, I am looking for someone I really click with... someone who shares my outlook on life and who can be my best friend as well as everything else. I think I will just know it is right when the time comes....
I'm registering to find myself a partner
