A Little Bit About Me
As Salaamu 'Alaykum!
I pray that you are in the best of health and iman.
My name is Yahya. I’m originally from Gujarat, India but I’ve lived in the USA since I was five years old. I have three sisters and one brother.
Education & Work:
In my teens, I attended Hifz school and became a Hafiz (memorized the Quran), alhamdulillah. I also received my Ijaza in Tajweed while living in Egypt. Currently, I'm working towards finishing my degree in Healthcare Administration. I also studied Arabic for a year and I intend to continue this with the goal of completing an Islamic Studies degree from Bayyinah, inshaAllah. While I pursue my education, I like to keep myself busy. I work full time at the masjid, where my father is the Imam. In this capacity, I have several functions, including teaching kids in the Hifz program, leading the daily salah, leading the taraweeh, working as an administrator, etc. In addition to that, I am a government contractor at two state penitentiaries here in Ohio where I work as an Islamic services chaplain. I teach, advise and do da’wah amongst the incarcerated Muslim population. I am also involved with volunteering in my community, teaching Sunday school, working with youth groups (MYNA, etc) and various other roles.
Personality:
Some words my family and friends have used to described me are funny, adventurous, compassionate, patient, loyal, trustworthy and friendly. I'd say some of these are a result of working with children for many years. I've been told I'm really good with kids and would love to have some of my own one day, inshaAllah. I'm an open minded and easygoing guy who doesn't understand those dudes who freak out at their wives over a less-than-perfect meal or other trivial matters. Having three wonderful sisters, I've always had a great respect for women and part of my job in the prison is teaching and advising on strategies to fight domestic violence. Alhamdulillah, I am also very capable and don't think twice about doing the menial chores around the house. I try to treat everyone with the respect they deserve. I fancy myself as a bit of a romantic and can’t wait to share many wonderful experiences with that special someone...
Hobbies:
I am family oriented and love spending time with my family and close friends. I love traveling. I have completed Hajj and Umrah alhamdulillah and have been to England, France, South Africa, Egypt, and Turkey to name a few. But for me, travelling doesn’t have to mean getting on a plane; road trips can be just as fun. I enjoy attending Islamic classes and lectures or putting on a good lecture on YouTube while I do my work. Other things I enjoy include cooking (especially foreign cuisine), reading, art, studying languages and dialects, the outdoors - camping, hiking, sightseeing, etc and a good conversation around a hot cup of chai.
There’s so much more I could tell about myself but I’ll leave some room for discovery. If there's anything else you'd like to know, shoot me a message.

What I Am Looking For
I would like to marry someone who is practicing the deen (prays five times a day, fasts, follows the Qur'an and Sunnah to the best of her ability) or is willing to, someone who is interested in learning with me about our wonderful Deen and helping each other live by it, someone who puts Islam before culture and tradition. I am not opposed to her working if that is her choice but certainly not necessary, as I am more than capable of providing for my family, alhamdulillah.
As for personality, I would like to meet someone who is some combination of outgoing, humorous, optimistic, easy-going, and religious minded.
