A Little Bit About Me
First let me say that I do not like be photographed because I am always, well usually, disappointed with the result. The picture that you see may look like one a person may have in the staff directory at her job. Guess what – that’s exactly what this is. I knew that if I waited for another picture to be taken I’d be waiting for a long time. Please bear with me until I manage to get a replacement.

I work every day to be a good Muslim focusing on following the Quran and Sunnah to the best of my ability. I have been extremely health and fitness conscious most of my life. My collection of workout videos, my Total Gym and free weights allow me to work out at home at least 3 days a week. I prefer natural ways of healing and a plant-based diet. During spring and summer working in my yard is a favorite activity of mine. As a matter of fact, being outside is one of my favorite things. That’s why I have to live somewhere that has weather that allows me to spend plenty of time outside in my yard, taking walks, hiking, going to street festivals and the list goes on. I enjoy all kinds of music and also enjoy attending live performances of music and other performing arts. A good weekend for me involves time outside and then time inside eating a yummy meal of seafood and fresh vegetables (and perhaps, a warm slice of bean pie and a scoop of butter pecan ice cream). We’ll top the evening off watching a really good movie (mystery, suspense, film noir, science fiction or maybe a good action flick). Throw in some dancing and it’s a perfect weekend. I have a composter in my backyard because I am concerned about my environment and therefore, want to reduce my carbon footprint as much as possible. Yes, I recycle. I thing about and care about what’s going on in the world and can have strong opinions about any number of issues. I appreciate a good conversation on world and local events and am always open to learn new things. A Kindle cannot replace a good book. I read the same kind of books as the movies that I watch plus non-fiction on a variety of topics. Right now I am reading Gender Talk – The Struggle for Women’s Equality in African-American Communities. Allah did not bless me with children and I have not regretted it - it is Allah's will. I don't expect or have the desire to have children at this point in my life. If you have children I pray that you are a good father and being a good Muslim example for them. I am a no-nonsense kind of person who has a problem with anything that does not make sense to me. Drama is not my friend. I will be making a deliberate effort in 2013 to let go of baggage, reduce my stress and increase my peace. My intention is to build up to meditation becoming a daily practice. My friends would say that I am honest, caring, strong and have a good sense of humor.

What I Am Looking For
He needs to be making a real effort to be a good Muslim. He needs to be health and fitness conscious. I really need him to be a good communicator of his feelings, needs and wants (or at least be making some headway towards that). The silent treatment really bugs me and my being the target of frustration that someone else created ain’t gonna work. I expect my husband to be warm and affectionate towards me. Holding my hand while we are out and about would make my day. Speaking of being out and about, he enjoys the outdoors as much as I do. He is interested in the world around him and does things to make it better, even if it’s little things that no one else notices. Respect, respect, respect – for women in general and me, in particular. My husband will not feel the need to control and oppress me but rather to protect and encourage me to be my genuine self within the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah, of course. This man will have the confidence to show me his genuine self. He will have his own interests and activities apart from me but he will miss me when he is away. He will be honest, sincere, trustworthy, humorous, physically active and young and vital in the way he approaches and lives his life. He will get extra points if he can teach me how to Salsa. He will be a positive role model for men of all ages. He will love being married to me.
