A Little Bit About Me
Note: Willing to share picture(s) early on in the conversation.
I'm of Pakistani descent, born and raised in a multi-ethnic environment in Saudi Arabia. I can speak both English and Urdu fluently, alhamdulillah, though I have to say I'm comparatively more proficient and comfortable in the former owing to my schooling background (an American international school). Despite living in just one country, I was raised interacting with people of various cultures and ethnicities (a third-culture kid). So I feel less attached to any one culture and have developed a preference for living among diversity rather than within a single culture/ethnicity. My reason for sharing this intro is only to highlight that, for better or worse, I relate more to people with a similar background and standing on the 'cultural spectrum'.
Personalities are fluid, but I’ll try to share a bit about who *I strive to be* at the core. A Muslim—living Islam as a way of life (speaking of which, I try to err on the side of caution and adhere to the well-established opinions of classical scholars). Honest (sometimes can be brutally so). Principled (not concerned by the bandwagon everyone’s jumping on). Keen on self-rectification (a hard one…something I try to make a regular concern in every aspect...and so, appreciate sincere constructive criticism/advice).
Generally—Enjoy social life with breaks of solitude...wide-ranging acquaintances and a few friends. Take pleasure from a balance of indoors and outdoors. Rarely one to choose the extreme options in surveys (e.g., 'strongly agree' and 'strongly disagree') unless it be a matter of belief or a crystal clear fact. Then again, what's lucid to me may be cloudy to another..what’s ‘right’ to me may be ‘wrong’ to another..
I feel I'm an amateur in just about every area. So I'm a student ad infinitum—one that takes interest in many things: deen, current affairs (not to be confused with simply ‘news’), healthy living, and self-improvement to mention a few.
I’ve recently completed a 3-year tajweed program at a local institute and currently teach a few students alongside studying another Qur’an-related course. Something else I aspire to study is the Arabic language.
Not career-oriented, rather, keen on being engaged in meaningful work.
***If you have any feedback on my profile (good or bad; on its contents, tone, etc.)—even if it doesn’t personally interest you—it’d be gratefully welcome.
What I Am Looking For
A companion. A best friend. One who is trying to make Islam a way of life. Consistently adheres to the 5 basic pillars. One who relates to who I strive to be in essence (see above). Works towards or is keen on holistic self-improvement. Has a light-hearted side. Knows what it means to be financially prepared for what comes with building a family. Generously giving family man. (No, I did not mean your wallet.)
If you're passionate about actively contributing to the Ummah in any form, that'd be an added bonus. It's something I aspire to do.
Saying more would unnecessarily box people out. Let’s converse.
