A Little Bit About Me
Salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wabarakathuhu,

Feels odd having to write about myself I suppose it can be likened to to the first day at a new place where you have to share interesting things about yourself and you find yourself thinking ‘oh my god, I don’t know anything about myself – who am I?!”

Moving on…

I come from a family of 4 brothers and 3 sister including myself. It is a crazy bunch! I am the eldest in the sisters but I am very much close to my sisters and brothers. We like to have a get together once in a while and I am known to rustle about the odd family feast and I am open to trying new recipes.

AlHamdulillah after much deliberation I have decided to give marriage a second chance as I believe that not all men are the same and a bad experience is something that one should learn from.

I have recently started to learn about Islam and I feel overwhelmed that Allah has guided me and honoured me. Even though I was ‘born into a Muslim family’ I feel like many aspects of Islam was missing from my life. I pray my five salah which I believe is an integral part of one’s faith and it is this connection that keeps us grounded.

I have my quirks like I everyone else - I like to keep the house spotless and I understand not everyone feels the same way and this is where I believe compromise comes into play and a mutual understanding. Everyone has flaws and as per the quote I came across recently:

“If your spouse is angry, you should be calm. When one is fire, the other should be water.” - Umar Ibn Al-Khattab

In regards to communication on here then please be aware that my family will be involved. This I believe should not be a hindrance rather taken as a positive – that I do not wish to waste my time and yours and that I wish to start this union on the right foot islamically. Furthermore, any meetings will involve a family member (mahram) accompanying me.

What I Am Looking For
Hmm let’s see where do I begin… If you’re reading this, then chances are you read the above and something appealed to you in terms of what you are looking for in a spouse I hope.

I am looking for someone who is religiously inclined and at the very least is praying their five salah. I don’t want to list the obvious/ clichés because I feel two people who want a relationship to be successful will work together to overcome their differences inshaAllah.

If I had to name a few things it’d be:

I appreciate people who are upfront, someone who will work with me to make the marriage work. Equally someone who knows what marriage entails and the rights of his wife. I have been learning about the rights of the husband and subhanAllah there is no denying these heavenly ordained rights are there to protect us – the family unit – and not to oppress us.

I am definitely looking for someone who loves the Deen because if we do not fear Allah then we are not fulfilling His rights over us. AlHamdulillah for this guidance if we stick to the Qur’an and Sunnah then we cannot lose in the Dunya and Akhira. And that is our real purpose here right – to earn the Pleasure of Allah.
