A Little Bit About Me
Kasaaye Mohamed Yassin
I, (kasaaye), was born in Mogadishu, Somalia, in 1995 on the 1st of January (I'm a New Year's Baby). I am 6.3 feet in height. I am a good player of soccer and also a stand-up comedian.
I am the elder child of seven in my family. Meeting the requirements of seven children was the toughest task for my parents, so I decided to be a responsible son. I did my schooling in my city itself at Ablaal School.
As I grew, I learned my responsibilities and started to understand the situation and act accordingly. Since my schooling, I have had a dream to be a model. I started asking my friends and well-wishers about my aim. I'm also interested in exploring new areas and getting to know their culture. So with the guidance of my well-wishers and the support of my parents, I moved to South Africa and pushed myself to work towards my goal to become a model.
I was highly committed, dedicated, and sincere in handling challenging tasks. This helped me to learn a lot of new things in my life. When I was sixteen years old, I started to work as a waiter in a restaurant but felt pushed to aim higher, so I went to the army after receiving an invite from a patron that took a liking to me. I moved to Mombasa, Kenya, only two months later, searching for greener pastures. Then I proceeded to Mozambique, and this was all by sea.
I then disembarked in Mozambique in February (2016) and proceeded to South Africa, where Abdulahi mohamed haji assisted me to get a job as a shop attendant in his shop. While working there, I shared with him my aspirations and dreams to become a model then he led me to different modeling agencies.
In (2017) I applied at Ace Models and got rejected. I felt a bit dejected but did not give up. Rejection by Fabulous Models in (2018) hardened me, and I decided to try my chances in Swaziland for a year. Although I could not secure success there, The exposure and experience in Swaziland made me strong enough to compete. I then came back to South Africa in (2019) and applied to Blaze Models. I was selected conditionally to remove my gold teeth.
So I had to move back to Swaziland to get them removed. This time my stay in Swaziland was up to (2020) But due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in (2020), the governments imposed the lockdown, so I could not come back that year. When I came back in (2021), I applied at Gapa Model Agency. It was a success story, and the eagle is flying low-headed for dizzy heights.
My self-confidence and optimistic approach helped me a lot. I went back to Swaziland at a new job post then felt the urge to do a cultural-centric photoshoot as it had been my dream for over three years after I had seen the beauty of the Eswatini culture. So, I called Bigirimana Jean De Dieu (a professional photographer/videographer) on my day off. Bigirimana invited me to his studio, and He then did the best photo shoot I've ever done with my shooting partner Balindele.
After the shoot, I shared my pictures with Abdihakiin Beef , a renowned journalist. He posted on several social media platforms that I married a "beautiful South African lady," which spiraled me from an almost nobody to a famous overnight sensation in Somalia, Swaziland, and South Africa, to name a few (It was all a prank.)
