A Little Bit About Me
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
A bit about me:
I'm Bengali by origin, but not at all connected to the culture; I'm totally whitewashed. The colonialists would be proud
I would say that I'm intelligent and easygoing, and that I have a pretty good sense of humor, although not everyone gets it. I'm also a fairly independent and self-directed person.
What I like most are the simple pleasures of life: good food and good company. I spend a lot of time going out to eat with friends or just hanging out. I love cars, technology, literature, fitness, and games. I also listen to nasheeds and watch a lot of Islamic lectures.
I'm very active outside of work: I lift weights about six times a week and stick to a relatively healthy diet, occasionally splurging on the delicious stuff when I go out with friends or family. I'm determined to not become that one fat potbelly uncle everyone has.
I am a Muslim of ahlus Sunnah, who puts the Deen over culture or dunya. I don't follow a particular madhab (for now). I pray and fast, read Quran, and keep a Sunnah beard. I don't have friends of the opposite gender and refrain from free mixing. I take correct aqeedah and avoiding innovations seriously.
I am a pretty simple guy; I'm no shaykh, nor did I have an Islamic upbringing, and still have a lot to learn and improve on. In shaa Allah I want to increase my knowledge and I hope my wife can support me in that :)
Right now I'm working on memorizing the Quran and learning Arabic.
I work as a software engineer currently, at a consulting firm in Phoenix. I work with clients around the city, and enjoy what I do. But I'm a big proponent of work-life balance and am not a workaholic. My work is just a means to an end (living).
What I Am Looking For
I'm looking for someone who cares deeply about practicing Islam properly. Someone who follows the kitab and Sunnah and the aqeedah of Ahlus Sunnah. Not looking for a shaykhah or an alimah; just someone trying their best and putting in effort.
The content of your character is also important to me. I expect a certain level of hayaa in both dress and speech.
After that it's just a matter of seeing if we communicate well and connect.
