A Little Bit About Me
I'm a practicing Muslim who attended a Catholic college and through that journey, discovered a passion for interfaith dialogue and peacebuilding, and presently I'm trying to make a professional career out of that. Although my faith and identity as a Muslim is central to my being, this leads me to being progressive, not conservative: I am a feminist, an ally of the LGBT community, an advocate for protecting the rights of religious minorities, and believe in God's mercy over His wrath. I mention this because there is often a misconception that being very religious means being very close-minded, conservative, or judgmental. I aim for and hope to show another side of religion that I believe is more reflective of who God is and, in turn, who people claiming to follow Him should be.

It was the tension between my positive interfaith experiences and the more hostile and often fatal encounters we hear about that motivated me to pursue graduate studies in conflict resolution with the mindset and hope that identifying, understanding, and addressing the factors involved with religious conflict and violence might bring about a possibility to replace destructive encounters across religious lines with experiences like mine.

Onto more fun stuff: I'm an avid photographer and writer, both of which are hobbies I began in middle school and constantly work to improve and develop. I love hanging out at coffee shops and having bubble tea with friends or on a first date: so if you have any favorites too share, let me know! - bonus points if you know of one I haven't been to before! :)

-I'm looking for a Muslim who shares progressive values from a faith-based perspective about issues like interfaith dialogue, women's rights, LGBT rights, etc. If that sounds like you, I'd love to hear from you to start a conversation and see where it takes us. Also:
