A Little Bit About Me
Education:
Graduated from John Hopkins University Baltimore, MD as Research Scientist, currently working in Cancer Research in a public sector. I am well-settled in US for the past 20 years.
Family Background:
I belong to well-educated, affluent, Urdu speaking Sunni family with strong cultural and religious values. My
ancestors were Yousuf zai Pathans (grandparents migrated from India to Pakistan). I have four sisters all married with children well-settled in Pakistan, India, Canada and a brother, settled in US. My father is a business-man in Pakistan and mother is a home maker.
Personality:
According to the people who know me say that I am a very confident, pleasant, social, soft but stern, yet someone who holds strong cultural and family values. I hold such values because that's what makes me identifiable, this is who I am, a proud Muslim at belief, a woman at heart, a Pakistani/American in mind. My
friends say that I have a very patient, beautiful and cheerful personality from inside and out which I believe is God gifted.
Now a days it's very common line people have used, which is "I hold both east & west values", but none actually takes time to define it. I felt a need to do just that: I will start by using a common phrase "Everyone gets life once, so make the most out of it". Being a modest Muslim, my views contradict with this motto due
to our belief on life after death. Therefore, I try to keep a good balance between Deen & Duniya and cherish life within my limits rather than being an extremist. My knowledge of Islam is very extensive for someone my age, yet my level of practice is very moderate.
Outlook towards Life:
I believe everyone has a reason to be in this world, and one can set certain aspirations to achieve in life. Even though it's only possible in an ideal world to accomplish all your wishes but I believe it all depends on an
individual. To add to this, one also needs to set some ground rules and principles in life by not imposing high standards/expectations to others and focus to achieving mutual respect and common grounds, for which the key concept, comes to limelight is "TRUST". Trust is again a word which is thrown around a lot, to me it is the simple thread which brings two persons mind and body to sync.
Hobbies:
I like to read, travel, and listen to music. I enjoy cooking Pakistani and different types of ethnic foods. I love strolling in nature either on biking or hiking. For health and fitness, I like to do yoga with cardio and play tennis occasionally.
