In 2016 I went on a relentless search to find the purpose of life.
I explored theories, ideologies, major religions and removed all bias from my heart, willing to accept the truth (whatever it may be) of why we are all here. 
I looked into Islam briefly but it did not capture my attention upon first interaction, and so I continued to explore.
In hindsight I interpret this as a sign that Allah (SWT) truly does guide who He Wills, when He Wills and that I would not be able to take Islam, it would have to be given to me by The Most High.
Following a number of sequential events over the space of several months that were too precise and surreal to be mere coincidences, I realised that something far greater than me was guiding me towards this way of life.

By the beginning of 2017 I took my Shahada and made the decision to dedicate my life to Islam and give up all things that go against this refining deen.
By the Grace of God I am still able to enjoy life, having let go of pastimes and interests that were dear to me, and now find far more enjoyment and have a greater appreciation of those things that are permissible.
Music is something that I have completely removed from my life. Alhamdulillah, I have not only filled this void but enhanced it with various rhythmic and melodic recitations of the Glorious Quran.
I especially enjoy the recitation of Raad Mohammad Al Kurdi, Saad Al Qureshi and Mishary Alafasy.
I organise my days around all 5 of the obligatory prayers and find peace in striking a balance between discipline, humour, reflection and assisting those in need.
I currently attend a weekly class that teaches students the fundamentals in Fiqh, Aqeeda, Haddith and the Seerah of The Prophet (saw).

I appreciate that we all need downtime and understand that movies and television programmes are interwoven into society, however I personally avoid these as they often contain content that is contrary to the teachings of Islam, or simply a misuse of time. 

If I am not for you, then may Allah (SWT) guide you to someone more suitable and bless you with a long and successful marriage.

Someone who is willing to sacrifice the "enjoyments" and distractions of this world for the sake of their own soul, and to seek the pleasure of Allah (swt).
