A Little Bit About Me
Welcome to my Q&A
What is my religious commitment and how does being a Practicing Muslim influence me in my life?
The sociopolitical climate in the World is forcing everyone to choose sides. People, including Muslims, find themselves stuck in binary operations. I on the other hand, am committed religiously that in each binary operation there is a third option "tawheed", accepting Allah (cc) as the one and only law maker, ruler, executor, and judge while rejecting any person, people or organization who claim to possess these attributes partially or as a whole. That is how being a Practicing Muslim influences my life: I choose "tawheed", which also happens to be the only option, without any exceptions, without any strategies, without doubt, even if the consequences of my choice are clearly against me, since Allah knows the best and we know nothing at all.
In this context, although I happen to be born as a Muslim, I consider myself as a "revert" because it was not until university that I realized and exercised the "true" meaning of tawheed.
What activities do I engage in, to better myself as a Muslim?
Besides my prayers, I try to read, observe, analyze and communicate as much as I can. I am almost about to finish my first book.
What is my professional and educational background?
I have a bachelor's degree in engineering, an MBA and PhD in American Culture and Literature. My PhD thesis is on Muslims after 9/11. I'm bilingual in Turkish and English (native speaker) and speak some German. I have over 20 years of professional experience and am working as a senior management consultant for over 10 years.
What are my likes and dislikes?
Arts and music used to cover an important proportion of my life. I can play guitar, bass and drums, compose, sing, design and paint. I'm not claiming that it is halal or suggesting anyone to follow my example, but I do listen to music. I'd respect your opinion if this is a deal breaker for you. I'm an adequate cook and I like to cook for people I enjoy spending time with. I also enjoy sports like badminton and ski, but I'm not claiming to be a pro. I dislike lack of communication. I think lack of communication is the root cause of all our contemporary problems. I also like cats. But I don't own one right now. Which makes sense, because everyone knows you can't really own a cat.
How do I entertain myself and what do I like to do in my free time? Am I a social person? Do I have many friends?
People who work with me describe me as a social person and I happen to be so, but the truth is I don’t prefer spending too much time with people. I socialize with a small circle of friends and also happen to be very comfortable on my own.
Do I have children? What are their ages?
I have an adorable daughter. She is 11.
Have I ever moved around in my life?
So far I've been to the USA, Europe, UK and Middle East.
What are my future aspirations?
Except for becoming a better Muslim and a better father each and everyday, I don't have huge aspirations for the future. I'm happy with the way things are right now. I'm living in a beautiful city, on the 25th floor of a 25-story building with an amazing view. But I wouldn’t say “no” to share the view with someone I truly love. I hope it is you.
I also hope you are not afraid of heights...
What I Am Looking For
As I mentioned in my profile, I believe that the sociopolitical climate in the World is forcing everyone to choose sides. People, including Muslims, find themselves stuck in binary operations. My partner, like me, should be committed religiously that in each binary operation there is a third option; "tawheed", accepting Allah (cc) as the one and only law maker, ruler, executor, and judge while rejecting any person, people or organization who claim to possess these attributes partially or as a whole. She should choose "tawheed" without any exceptions, without any strategies, without doubt, even if the consequences of her choice are clearly against her, since Allah knows the best and we know nothing at all.
I'd like to explain what I clearly mean with this description, hoping to avoid misunderstanding, save time and prevent any discussion that would upset both parties.
(1.) My partner should be aware that supporting or taking part in democratic parties and "voting" in democratic systems is against tawheed and is considered as Shirq under any circumstance.
(2.) My partner must stay away from Sufism and its variations.
(3.) She should accept Hadith besides Quran as sources of truth.
(4.) She should reject all sorts of innovations including Mawleed and celebrating our Prophet's birthday.
(5.) My partner must avoid contemporary trends like astrology, veganism, feminism etc. which add no value to our faith but contribute to the assimilation of Islam.
She doesn't have to be perfect. She can fail and I will be there for her. She doesn't have to get frustrated, I will be beside her to make her smile. But I have to be sure of her intention about tawheed at all times.
Most importantly she must be there for me as well, warn me, help me, guide me if I fail in any of the things I mentioned above, even if it means to hurt me. As much as her intention, I must be sure that she has my back when I fall, she is next to me as a friend and ahead me as a Muslim. So, in case we chat, my first question to you will be; "will you be at my back, next to me or ahead me?", and I expect you to answer "ALL 3" so that I can understand that have you read my entire profile.
P.S.: I'm aware that it is not easy to find you, but since I'm here so may you...
